5 Little Speckled Frogs

frog children's illustration art

May has flown by. I asked D last night where the month went and he said it was all about my brother’s wedding. The before wedding preparation and then the after glow. It’s true, but happily I also had a great month of painting!

The above images are from my latest illustration. Do you remember the nursery rhyme/song 5 Little Speckled Frogs? I still do! Here’s the first stanza:

Five Little Speckled Frogs
Sat on a speckled log
Eating the most delicious bugs. Yum! Yum!
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are Four green speckled frogs

You basically repeat the above lyrics and count down the frogs. Here are all the lyrics and here is the song.

It was one of my favorite songs to sing in pre-school. My pre-school teacher used to have a felt board with a specked log surrounded by water and 5 speckled frogs sitting on the log. As we sang the song, one by one the frogs “jumped” into the water. At age 3 this song with the visual was simply the best!

I’ll be adding a few lines of song lyrics above the frogs and selling it as digital watercolor print. It will be similar in look to my Cow Jumping Over the Moon print. I’ll be selling the prints first at my summer art festivals and then they will be available in my Etsy Shoppe.

It’s going to be a hot weekend and start of June. I wish I could jump into the nice, cool water of my art!
How will you stay cool this weekend?
