Halloween Hand Lettering

Hooray for Halloween! I know it’s not quite yet October, but we’re only a couple days away. In fact, I’m so happy for October and Halloween that I decorated my home yesterday and thought some of you would too.

How about something new to decorate your wall or mantle? That’s right! Today I’m offering you a chance to win a free Black Cat Halloween Print.

Closer view of Hand Lettering

It’s my latest print in the Shop and it features an arched black cat silhouette filled with hand lettered words to describe Halloween, such as “Ghoulish, bone-rattling, and Jack-o-lantern grinning”. The digital print is 8″x10″, so it easily fits into a photo frame of your choice.

To have a chance to win the Black Cat Print, all you have to do is leave a comment below this Give Away Posting telling me your Best Halloween Costume EVER on AbbyDora Design’s Facebook Fan page . To keep it all fair, I’ll use a random number selector to pick the winner. That lucky person will be announced on Tuesday!

Good luck!

Positive Thinking

Jill MacDonald art

I know I’m late to the game, but I’ve finally joined Pinterest! And it only took a couple of days and I’m already hooked. There are so many beautiful and amazing images to collect and share! One of my boards focuses on Positive Thinking with hand lettered quotes. I found the above quote by Jill MacDonald and just had to share it with all of you!

The message certainly hits home at AbbyDora Design. I love the combination of collage letters and drawn ones. This poster has so much playful energy—just my style. I might even have to make paper letter forms myself. I definitely have enough scrap paper around the studio!

Are you an avid pinner too? Are you following AbbyDora Design on Pinterest? Come over and check out all the amazing things I’m discovering!

After being away for a whirl wind trip to the West Coast, I’m back in the studio working on several fall projects. I’m hoping I’ll be able to share with you very soooooon!

But while I’m in the design and art trenches I would like to share with you 2 adorable baby stationery sets that are available in the AbbyDora Design shop. These personalized stationery sets make great gifts for new moms. I know one new mom used them as her own special thank you notes for all her baby gifts.
There are two cute options for you:

Baby Girl cards

Each set includes 12 folded cards (4.25″x5.5″) with rounded bottom corners and corresponding colored envelopes with European flaps. The cards are printed on premium lightly textured white cover stock with archival quality pigment inks. The complete set is packaged in a clear plastic box. When you purchase this stationery, the name you’d like to appear on the cards is conveyed to me in a “Note to the Seller” or as a convo. As with all my prints and paper goods, these cards are all created, printed, and packaged by me in my studio. (huge smile.) Oh, AND I even offer a complimentary gift note if you’d like one!

Crafty Chloe Picture Book

With the start of school means the start of school projects too. I know as a grade school child, I loved to build dioramas and paint posters to further explain my assignments. So to celebrate those crafty kids out there I thought I’d share with you a great (and very funny) picture book. It’s called Crafty Chloe by Kelly DiPucchio and illustrated by Heather Ross.

kid craft book

It’s about a young girl, Chloe, who LOVES to create and build things: macaroni necklaces, colorful flower hats, and even clothing. Yep, Chloe even knows how to sew!

Antheneum Books

Her skills and creativity are put to the test when she has to come up with the most perfect HOMEMADE gift her for good friend, Emma, for her birthday. And it has to be very PURPLE too. Chloe feels the pressure. Can she do it? What will the resourceful Chloe make? You’ll have to read it to find out!

This modern story is charming and Ross’s expressive drawings easily pull you into the characters. You can’t help but root for Chloe. This book is for anyone who loves to receive or make homemade gifts.
