process

Every story is unique like you. AbbyDora Design creates one-of-a-kind designs to fit your specific needs. To start your custom designed project, please send us an email or give us a call at 410.961.5354 and we can discuss what you have in mind.


The design process begins with a complimentary design consultation. This can happen in person, over the phone, or via email. This is your opportunity to share what you have in mind for the project. What are the details of the event or the parameters of the assignment? For our card & invitation clients, we will want to know what is the theme, favorite colors, location, and how many stationery pieces you need. For business and publisher clients, we will discuss the goals, audience, competition, and branding of your company or book.

All of this initial information gives us a starting point for the design. After our first meeting, we will draw up a project estimate and description for you to review. This usually takes about one week to prepare, depending on the complexity of the project.


AbbyDora Design takes on all sorts of projects, so our pricing is handled on an individual basis. We will be happy to provide an estimate or supply additional information on pricing for your project.


For those who love the Do-It-Yourself approach, AbbyDora Design creates a custom stationery design, but then allows you to handle the printing and trimming. It is a way to have professionally designed cards or invitations to suit any budget. We will email you with a print-ready PDF of the finished design. Choose to print at home or use a local or on-line printer. You are able to print as many as you want! Whether you need 50 or 500 the cost remains the same for your custom design. Want to give it a shot, but a little scared? No Worries! AbbyDora Design will be happy to offer paper suggestions and printer recommendations based on your specific design.


Once you have reviewed and signed the project estimate, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit. We accept checks or credit card payments through paypal. Design begins once we have received the signed estimate form and deposit.


We’ll develop 3-5 original design concepts for your review. You can provide any feedback/changes at this time. We’ll incorporate your changes into the selected design and present revisions. Once you approve the revisions, we’ll prepare the files for printing.


If AbbyDora Design is handling the printing of your project, you will be required to sign a proof approval form. This is a very important step! It’s your last chance to review your piece carefully for spelling, grammar, and layout. Once you have returned your signed approval form to us, AbbyDora Design cannot be held responsible for mistakes, so take your time and review all proofs carefully, please.


After receiving your proof approval the final design files will be sent to the printer. A final invoice containing the remaining balance and any additional charges incurred will be emailed to you. Please note that payment of the remaining balance in full is required before your order will be released for shipment.

Turnaround times will vary depending on the complexity of your project. Generally speaking, you can expect to receive your order in 2-8 weeks from the time you sign your proof approval form.
