I’m been painting and painting these last few weeks to make several new pieces for Spring and Easter. I love how brightly colored my two mini egg collage paintings turned out.

The paintings are much looser than I traditionally work. It felt great to add strokes of color here and there by responding to the painting as I went along. I didn’t start with a plan, I just began to paint and add bits of vintage paper. So refreshing!
I’m offering each of these painting as Happy Easter cards paired with magenta and yellow envelopes.

They also look great framed as a digital print for your house!

Both the cards and the prints are now available at my Etsy store. Shake off the gray of winter and browse the new artwork of spring!

I have more artwork to share with you this morning. I’ve finished another animal watercolor fabric collage. This one features three cute monkeys swinging on branches with bright yellow bananas. Who doesn’t like monkeys?!

I’m enjoying adding fabric and paper collage elements to my artwork. It’s another piece to the puzzle to solve, but I do love the combination of the found patterns and textures applied to my own hand drawing. More to share soon!
I’m offering high quality digital prints at my Etsy store of this monkey artwork on watercolor paper. The print looks and feels like real watercolor and fabric collage! The unframed original is also available. Please contact me if you are interested.

I’m happy to share with you a new piece of collage artwork featuring a mother and baby giraffe. The artwork is done in gouache and pencil on thick arches watercolor paper. I then collage a background with fabric and decorative papers.

The vertical format of the board was great fun to work on and actually sparked the initial idea to create tall giraffes.
Digital prints of the art are now available at my Etsy shop. A print makes a wonderful gift to a new mom and will work for either a little boy or girl. The frame original artwork is available. Please contact me for more information.

Happy Friday!
For seven years I lived in New York City and rode the subway at least twice a day (long live the F train!). The people on the train are definitely the eye candy and not the metal sardine cans cars. However, the MTA has a program where it asks local city artists to create artwork to be placed within the subway car. Happily, one of my favorite children’s book illustrators, Sophie Blackall, was asked to create such an artwork! She specializes in quirky characters and her subway artwork she showcases this talent. Here are a few snippets of what she created:

Isn’t it a spectacular illustration?! For anyone who has traveled on the subway this art will prompt stories about similar characters you encountered on your own subway travels. Etsy produced a video about Sophie creating this artwork. In the video you are able to see the entire illustration and you even get to see her paint! Brava Sophie on this milestone!

Happy Valentine’s Day! This is another great quote that I came across recently and wanted to share with you. This quote makes me realize that our actions truly do have more impact than our words alone. So on this day of hearts and chocolate, be sure to gift hugs to the people you love!

It’s a jungle out there and here on my drawing table. The last few weeks I’ve had a sudden explosion of creativity to paint animals. First it was farm animals and now I’m turning to wild animals! My drawing table is alive with golden yellow giraffes, cheeky monkeys, and a parade of elephants. Next month you’ll find my new friends on prints, cards, and nursery room decor in my Etsy shop. Stay tuned!
Oh and there will be more animals to come too. What animal would you like to see?

This is one of my favorite quotes about love and friendship. We all need good friends to celebrate the joys of life and to be there with us when our skies are gray and cloudy. This Valentine’s Day be sure to let a friend know that you are thankful that they are in your lives.
Do you have a favorite quote about friendship that you would like to share? I would love to hear it!
